An exciting weekend edges closer! This Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October the longest running invitational gymnastics competition in the U.K. will commence: the Rushmoor Rosebowl. It will be the 35th anniversary of the competition, which this year will see twenty teams competing, including teams from Canada, Spain and Holland as well as Great Britain. The event will take place at Rushmoor Gymnastics Academy, in Aldershot, where it has been held since the millennium. Despite the high calibre of competitors that the event attracts, hosts Colin and Bernie Wright note that the Rosebowl’s continuation would not be possible without "very generous voluntary support... and the considerable help that we continue to receive from our (two) sponsors”. One of these sponsors, making it all possible, is The Zone. "Our thanks go to them for their most generous contribution, helping to ensure that Britain’s most famous and longest running Invitational continues to thrive and prosper”, Colin and Bernie added. The Zone has proudly sponsored the Rushmoor Rosebowl for the past 15 years and hopes to be involved for many years to come, enabling gymnasts an incredible opportunity to perform as well as form global friendships. Many well-known successful gymnasts have showcased their talent at this competition, in preparation for future international stages. Top gymnasts from as far as Australia, Japan and Russia have even travelled to Rushmoor to participate. Most notably, five-time World and Olympic Champion Aliya Mustafina chose this occasion to debut her skills, as a Junior gymnast, in 2007. She dominated the competition winning all four apparatus finals as well as the individual title! Aliya is not the only gymnast who found worldwide acclaim, following success at the Rosebowl. A number of gymnasts, including Kelly Simm, Ruby Harrold and Claudia Fragapane, to name just a few, have gone on to compete for Great Britain at World Championships and Olympic Games after winning titles in Rushmoor. Who knows what the future holds for some of this weekend’s competitors? If history is anything to go by, it promises to be spectacular. The competition will run from around 10am-4pm on Saturday and 10:30am-1pm on Sunday. If you would like more information or to book your tickets for as little at £5 you can call 01252 320888 or visit the Rushmoor Gymnastics Academy website. I’d like to wish a huge good luck to our models Laura, Jess and Jen, as well as everyone else involved this year, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for The Zone stall and its special offers and sale garments while you’re there!
